Holistic Counselling and PsychotherapyHolistic Counselling and Psychotherapy takes traditional "talk" therapy to another level working with an individual as a whole person, integrating the mind, body, and spirit. Holistic Psychotherapy understands that illness develops from dis-ease or being out of touch with the energetic flow of emotions and the wisdom of the body. This approach is does not see these symptoms as bad, necessitating their removal or cure, but to take a more systemic view. The lack of balance in the psychology world today is actually unrealistic because it's definitions of functioning are based on dysfunction. Symptoms carry a lot of information about what is going on at a deeper, inner level, and can be valuable for alerting us to the necessity of paying attention to our inner being. Dis-ease can be reversed as the body and mind can come into balance reciprocally to support the individual as a whole system. Exploring symptoms in this way involves discovering what is seeking to emerge in our knowing of ourselves, and then integrating this discovery into our day to day living. We actually all have superior capacities to tap into this wisdom and balance the energetic flow of the body, but we must learn how.
“We do not change as we grow older; we just become more clearly ourselves.” My holistic, medication-free approach is effective for all types of psychological problems and stresses - even the most serious and severe. Holistic psychotherapy is solution-oriented and practical: it does not use psychological labelling, but instead uses only empowering approaches to enable clients to resolve their issues in constructive ways. Clients will achieve this by initially learning to free their mind from stress to create the freedom to examine their problems, issues and goals in life in creative new ways, and then put their new insights into positive and constructive actions. Clients develop the ability to free themselves from stress by freeing themselves from paralysing inhibitions, negative attitudes, emotional impulsiveness, self-destructive behaviour patterns, and conscious as well as unconscious self-defeating actions and reactions. They will then learn how to become more aware of their Self, their current situation and their past. As a result, clients will start to integrate their thoughts, feelings and actions in more constructive and realistic ways. Clients will start to focus on the here and now; not on guilt or regret over a past that cannot be changed, and not on worry about a future that is unknown. In therapy you will acquire the skill to give up blame. And as you move away from blame (of yourself or others) you feel the freedom of being truly in the constructive realm of choosing and working towards a life that is truly fulfilling. And by gaining such in-depth understandings you can learn to become free to get on - and stay on - roads of self-discovery and positive change! You learn how to become free to be responsible for the choices you make and you realise how you can empower yourself to actually choose to make positive or negative choices. Knowing ourselves more fully helps us to make creative responses to difficulties and opportunities. Responding in this way allows more passionate engagement with life, a richer experience of meaning, and increased fulfilment. Contact us if you are interested in finding out more about our services.
